The narrated death of the Theban general Epaminondas after his victory at Mantinea

I do not now set the death of Epaminondas, nor of Leonidas, before this death.

The death of Epaminondas in the midst of his successful attack at Mantinea, after which his troops fail to exploit the advantage he had won.

When, however, he had himself fallen, those who were left proved unable to take full advantage thereafter even of the victory;
