The two elder of the three brothers of the line of Temenus who fled Argos with Perdiccas to found the Macedonian dynasty.
Three brothers of the lineage of Temenus came as banished men from Argos to Illyria, Gauanes and Aeropus and Perdiccas;
Gauanes and Aeropus, who were the elder, stood astonished when they heard that, but the boy said, “We accept what you give, O king,” and with that he took a knife which he had with him and drew a line with it on the floor of the house round the sunlight.
When the king heard this, he was angered, and sent riders after them to slay them.

A friend of Pyrrhus whose death caused him great distress and prompted self-reproach for having delayed returning favors.
At any rate, when Aeropus died, he was distressed beyond measure, declaring that Aeropus had indeed only suffered what was common to humanity, but that he blamed and reviled himself because he had always delayed and moved slowly in the matter and so had not returned his friend’s favour.
