Recipient of the stolen helmet from Autolykos.
He gave it to Amphidamas of Cythera to take to Scandea, and Amphidamas gave it as a guest-gift to Molos, who gave it to his son Meriones;
even as we were brought up together in your own home, what time Menoitios brought me to you as a child from Opoeis because by a sad spite I had killed the son of Amphidamas - not of set purpose, but in childish quarrel over the dice.
Works and Days
A hero of Chalcis, called 'wise' and 'great-hearted', in whose honor funeral games were held at which the narrator won a poetry prize; presented as part of the narrator's own remembered history rather than distant myth.
Then I crossed over to Chalcis, to the games of wise Amphidamas where the sons of the great-hearted hero proclaimed and appointed prizes.
