"After him, Ancus Marcius, grandson of Numa Pompilius by a daughter, was made king by the people, and likewise carried a curiate law concerning his own command.
having been easily received into the citizenship, on account of his refinement and learning he was made so intimate with King Ancus that he was thought a partaker of all his counsels and almost a sharer of the kingdom.
