Odyssey
King of the Laestrygonians who kills and eats one of Odysseus's men and rouses his people against the fleet.
But Antiphates raised a hue and cry after them, and thousands of sturdy Laestrygonians sprang up from every quarter - ogres, not men.
"The men when they got on shore followed a level road by which the people draw their firewood from the mountains into the town, till presently they met a young woman who had come outside to fetch water, and who was daughter to a Laestrygonian named Antiphates.
Antiphates became father of Oikleus, and Oikleus of Amphiaraos, who was dearly loved both by Zeus and by Apollo, but he did not live to old age, for he was killed in Thebes by reason of a woman's gifts.
Iliad
Trojan warrior killed by Leonteus with a sword, falling face upward.
He then drew his sword and sprang first upon Antiphates whom he killed in combat, and who fell face upwards on the earth.
