History of the Peloponnesian War
Lacedaemonian high admiral appointed to command the whole Peloponnesian fleet, active in the Lesbos and Chios campaigns.
But when every thing at Lesbos went against him, he took his own force on board, and sailed back to Chios;
Astyochus also joined them from Lacedaemon, as high admiral, to whom now belonged the command of all the naval forces.
The same day, at a late hour, Astyochus also put out, and taking one Chian vessel in addition to his own, sailed to Lesbos, to render it whatever assistance he could.
