De Praescriptionibus Hereticorum
Ebion, named heretic listed among those who exploit 'Seek and you shall find.'
But Apelles too will assail me with this pronouncement, and Ebion and Simon, and all in order, have nothing else by which, while insinuating themselves to me, they make me over to themselves.
The heresy of Ebion is thus.
De Carne Christi
Namesake of the Ebionite heresy, holding Christ to be a mere man of David's seed.
And, "Not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh and of man, but of God he was born," he answered Ebion.
This opinion may suit Ebion, who makes Jesus a mere man, and only of the seed of David — that is, not also the Son of God — though plainly more glorious than the prophets;
it did not befit the Son of God to be born of human seed — lest, if he were wholly the Son of man, he should not also be the Son of God, and should have nothing more than Solomon, and more than Jonah, or be such as Ebion's opinion held.
De Virginibus Velandis
Heresiarch (founder of the Ebionite view) who denied the virgin birth
For writing to the Galatians, "God sent," he says, "His Son, made of a woman"—who, certainly, it is agreed, was a virgin, though Ebion resist it.
