Rāma's mother, named as rejoicing in his virtues.

He, who increases the joy of Kausalyā, is endowed with all virtues — like the ocean in depth, like the Himālaya in steadfastness.

Kausalyā gave birth to Rāma, endowed with divine marks, bearing half of Viṣṇu's essence, supremely blessed, the joy of the Ikṣvāku lineage.

Then Kausalyā passed one night beside that winged creature, her mind composed and steadfast, out of her desire to fulfil dharma.
