Favorite son of Alkinoos, beside whom Odysseus is seated when welcomed into the palace.
When Alkinoos heard this he took Odysseus by the hand, raised him from the hearth, and bade him take the seat of Laodamas, who had been sitting beside him, and was his favorite son.
Odysseus answered, "Laodamas, why do you taunt me in this way?
Three sons of Alkinoos, Laodamas, Halios, and Clytoneus, competed also.
