Ibn Miskawayh, the Buyid-era moral philosopher whose Kitāb al-Saʻādah the volume publishes.
And we have seen none who set it out and gave it its full due like the Book of Happiness (Kitāb al-Saʻādah) of the moral philosopher Abū ʻAlī ibn Miskawayh;
And let us return to the course of the first discourse and say that the common human happinesses that we mentioned above are bestowed upon us, and we are constituted for them by nature;
As for his books on the governance of the household and of cities, nothing has been translated into Arabic except what has been found of his book on the governance of cities, which is our discourse, and I have mentioned it in the catalogue of his books.
