Institutes of Roman Law
Classical Roman jurist quoted from the Digest on the continuance of possession of movables.
‘Nerva the son is of opinion that the possession of movables, excepting slaves, only lasts so long as they are in our custody, that is so long as we have power of obtaining natural possession or detention of them.
The Rights of War and Peace
Roman jurist whose opinion on natural possession is relayed by Paulus.
Thus Nerva, the son, as Paulus the lawyer relates, said that property arose from natural possession, some traces of which still remain respecting wild animals taken either upon the sea, or upon the land, or birds flying in the air.
