History of the Peloponnesian War
Athenian general, co-commander with Phrynichus and Onomacles of the large force sent to Samos and Miletus.
At the close of the same summer, there sailed from Athens a thousand Athenian heavy-armed, fifteen hundred of the Argives, (for five hundred of the Argives who were lightarmed, were provided with full armour by the Athenians,) and a thousand of the allies, in forty-eight ships, some of which were transports, under the command of Phrynichus, Onomacles, and Scironides:
At the same time, on Pisander's falsely accusing Phrynichus, the people deposed him from his command with his colleague Scironides, and sent Diomedon and Leon to the fleet as generals in their stead.
Against Theocrines
A member of the tribe Leontis who introduced the bill recording Theocrines' admission of debt to the tribe.
To prove that it is admitted by Theocrines himself that this debt is his own and that he arranged with the members of the tribe on behalf of his brother and himself for its payment, and that no jury which has regard to its oath could honorably hold that this criminal information is without foundation, (to the clerk) take, please, the bill which Scironides introduced in the meeting of the tribe.
