Śūlapāṇi, however, says:
> The first annual rite should be performed by the twice-born even in a month without a *saṅkrānti*.
In this verse of Laghu Hārīta, the word 'first' is for the purpose of prohibiting the monthly *śrāddha* that comes after the Sapiṇḍana.
