Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa
Lakṣmaṇa's mother, named in connection with his devotion to Rāma.
His beloved brother Lakṣmaṇa, who increases the joy of Sumitrā, endowed with humility, followed him out of love as he departed.
The lord of men gave half the pāyasa to Kausalyā;
And the remaining portion of that pāyasa, comparable to nectar, the lord of the earth gave again to Sumitrā after reflection.
Atharvaveda (Paippalāda)
A legendary woman whose love-spell is invoked as precedent for a present love-magic charm.
The love-spell that Sumitrā worked for Sumitrā, stripping her of garments — just as she never once slept soundly for longing of him — so too let that one never once sleep soundly for longing of me.
Rigveda
Named figure credited with possibly praising the god.
Whether it was a hundred, O lordly one, that Sumitrā praised you thus or that Durmitra praised you thus—when you helped in the slaying of Dasyus the son of Kutsa, when you helped in the slaying of Dasyus the calf of Kutsa.
