The Histories
Son of King Atys, chosen to lead the portion of the Lydian people who emigrated by sea and settled among the Ombrici, afterward called Tyrrhenians in his name.
They no longer called themselves Lydians, but Tyrrhenians, after the name of the king's son who had led them there.
until at last, after sojourning with one people after another, they came to the Ombrici, where they founded cities and have lived ever since.
At last their king divided the people into two groups, and made them draw lots, so that the one group should remain and the other leave the country;
De Spectaculis

Timaeus relates that the Lydians, immigrants from Asia, settled in Etruria under the leadership of Tyrrhenus, who had yielded to his brother in a contest for the kingdom.
