Atharvaveda (Paippalāda)
A class of demonic devourers warded off by protective plants and amulets.
Protect us, O Jaṅgiḍa, from the unclean ones, and from the Rakṣases.
Those who are devourers, the sorcerers, the rākṣasas, those who are kimīdins — all of them, O conch-shell, by means of you we overpower in every direction.
You who, radiant in the front, were born from the ocean — by means of the conch-shell, having struck down the rākṣasas and the devourers, we overpower them.
