San Hyan Tattvajnana
The ego-faculty, the coarsening of citta, called Pramāṇa, that presides over and sanctions actions; subdivided into Vaikṛta, Taijasa, and Bhūtādi.
*Ahaṅkāra* is the coarsening of *citta*.
Such are the works of Vaikṛta *ahaṅkāra*.
To carry out actions, good and evil, is the function of *ahaṅkāra*, and it presides over all possessions.
Vrhaspatitattva
The I-maker/ego principle, emergent from buddhi, threefold (Vaikṛta, Taijasa, Bhūtādi), source of mind, ten indriyas, and five subtle elements.
The *ahaṅkāra* called *Taijasa* participates in producing the effects of both the *Vaikṛta* and *Bhūtādi* *ahaṅkāras*, for its nature is to activate.
