Āṅgirasa Smṛti
A specific auspicious time period prescribed by the Veda as primary for performing śrāddha with cooked food.
Whatever ancestral rite, if it is a *śrāddha* (श्राद्ध) with cooked food, one should perform it during the *kutapa* (कुतप) period.
The *kutapa* period, by the word of the Veda, is declared as primary, and no other.
But where there is a loss of the *kutapa* period, one should act thus.
Vīramitrodaya
The eighth muhūrta of the day (around midday), held to be the most meritorious moment for beginning ancestral offerings.
> After the seventh *muhūrta* and before the ninth *muhūrta*, / > that time is to be known as *kutapa*;
