in the texts
Republic
The visible sun, offspring of the good, which gives light enabling sight, analogized to how the good gives truth enabling knowledge.
Is not this, then, the relation of vision to that divinity?
But as for knowledge and truth, even as in our illustration it is right to deem light and vision sunlike, but never to think that they are the sun, so here it is right to consider these two their counterparts, as being like the good or boniform, but to think that either of them is the good is not right.
Vīramitrodaya
The sun, whose disc's conjunction with the zodiac defines saṅkrānti; treated as an astronomical body/object throughout.
In this view, the entry of the eastern part of the sun's disc into the circle of the zodiac signs of Aries, etc.
Therein, the nature of a solar ingress (*saṅkrama*) is the conjunction of the central atom of the sun's disc with the first atom of a zodiac sign such as Aries.
