But in another book, in which, with the gravest opinions briefly compressed, he is said to have published, as it were, the oracles of wisdom, he writes in these words — which are surely known to you, Torquatus, for who of you has not learned by heart the Kyriai Doxai of Epicurus, that is, his Authoritative Maxims, so called because they are the gravest opinions for living happily, briefly stated?
