Against Apaturius
The written arbitration agreement drawn up by Apaturius and Parmeno and deposited with Aristocles, whose disappearance is central to the speaker's defense.
Aristocles promised that he would produce the articles, but up to this day has not brought them to light.
After this the arbitration was done away with, the articles of agreement having disappeared and the authority of the arbitrators being questioned.
At the outset they deposited their agreement with Phocritus, but upon his bidding them to deposit it with someone else, they deposited it with Aristocles.
For Phormio
Written agreement governing Pasio’s lease of the bank and shield-factory to Phormio.
The Articles of Agreement.
First the clerk shall read to you the articles of agreement, in accordance with which Pasio leased to the defendant the bank and the shield-factory.
These, men of Athens, are the articles of agreement in accordance with which Pasio leased the bank and the shield-factory to the defendant, after the latter had now become his own master.
