The book covers a wide area. It comprises, besides the fundamental phenomena of the electric current, dynamos and motors for continuous, alternating, and three-phrase current, accumulators and their apparatus, measuring instruments and electric lighting.

In one way in which it differs from other books of an elementary kind is in the space that is given to alternating-current electrical engineering. This subject is usually practically ignored, or is given a treatment so mathematical that it is quite beyond the powers of most readers.
