Kitāb madhāhib al-Aʻrāb wa-falāsifat al-Islām fī al-jinn
The theologian named third among the philosophers of Islam whose doctrine of the jinn the second aim will set out.
(As for *the second aim*) it is on the views of the philosophers of Islam concerning the jinn:
The angels, the jinn and the satans are substances (jawāhir) subsisting in themselves, differing in their realities with a difference such as obtains between species.
And al-Ghazzāl said in al-Iḥyāʼ, in the exposition of the satan's mastery over the heart by insinuation, after laying down a preamble, the like of this:
