Rigveda
Minor Āprī deity of honeyed speech, praised as bold and widely famed.
I invoke here the beloved Narāśaṁsa at this sacrifice — he of honeyed tongue, formed by oblations.
I have beheld Narāśaṁsa most bold and most widely famed, shining like the dwelling-place of heaven.
We call hither with hymns of praise Narāśaṁsa the mighty, the lord of steeds who quickens prizes, Pūṣan, ruler of men.
Atharvaveda (Paippalāda)
Vedic deity (epithet linked with Agni/Pūṣan) in whose house the crossing-ship stands.
Board this ship, the one without breach, the one capable of ferrying across — she who stands in the house of Narāśaṃsa and of Bhaga, furnished with a hundred oars.
With hymns of praise we entreat Narāśaṃsa, the vigorous one who bestows vigor, Pūṣan the lord of heroes, with his favors.
Now let us invoke the mind with a hymn of praise to Narāśaṃsa, and with the thoughts of the fathers.
