Rigveda
Sovereign god of cosmic ordinance (ṛta), guardian against sin, who releases the bound Śunaḥśepa and is begged to loosen the bonds of sin.
May King Varuṇa release him;
Without offense, Varuṇa, be aware here;
release us even from the sin we have committed.
Atharvaveda (Paippalāda)
