Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa
A great sage and one of Daśaratha's two chief officiating priests.
He had two highly esteemed officiating priests, both foremost among sages — Vasiṣṭha and Vāmadeva — and other counsellors as well.
Upon his death, Bharata — of great might — though pressed to accept the kingdom by the twice-born led by Vasiṣṭha, did not desire it.
