Risālat al-Wāridāt
The Shīʻah, refuted in the text for requiring an inerrant imam and for confining the office to ʻAlī and his clan, but credited in the apparatus with the doctrine of absolute prophetic inerrancy that the creed itself adopts.
[28] «1» This absolute formulation is the doctrine of the Shīʻah, and some of the later authorities adopted it.
It is necessary that he be of Quraysh, and the office is not confined to the Banū Hāshim, or to ʻAlī — may God ennoble his countenance.
