Ansāb al-ʻArab al-qudamāʼ
The evolutionary doctrine whose diffusion in the mid-nineteenth century is said to have generated the mother-right inquiry as one of its by-products.
Mother-right is among the inquiries that arose in the middle of the last century after the spread of the doctrine of ascent (evolution).
The learned men of that day were enamoured of natural facts on the doctrine of evolution (*al-irtiqāʼ*) and busied themselves with referring every phenomenon back to it, as we have said above.
