Five types judged by inner/outer insight (those led by mere sound)
Ancient Asaṅga SanskritŚag_24.1
Those who measure me by [outward] form and follow me by [mere] sound, fallen under the sway of desire and passion—those people do not know me.
Śag_24.2
One who understands the inward but does not see the outward, who beholds [only] the inward fruit—he indeed is led by mere sound.
Śag_24.3
One who does not know the inward but discerns the outward, who beholds [only] the outward fruit—he too is led by mere sound.
Śag_24.4
One who neither knows the inward nor sees the outward, a fool enveloped on every side—he too is led by mere sound.
Śag_24.5
One who understands the inward and also discerns the outward—the steadfast one, wise in the way of escape—he is not led by mere sound.
