    The people of this estate have, I think, by a false slander, persuaded your honour to impose on these men a tax upon their mares. Since, then, what is being done is unjust, and on that account ought to be displeasing to your honour, and is grievous to us as well, on account of the intimacy we have with those who have been wronged, we have made haste to entreat your goodness not to allow the harassment to go forward against those who are attempting to do this wrong.
