Letter 319
Late Antiquity Basil of Caesarea Greek- Likewise, on behalf of a stranger
Hard upon your departure there came to us this son, the one who delivers this letter to you, in need—as a man living in a foreign land—of all the consolation that Christians owe to strangers. The matter itself he will recount to you more clearly; the help you yourself will furnish, such as lies in your power and is needful for the business before him. If, then, the governor is present, you will yourself, of course, introduce him to the governor; otherwise you will provide him what he is bent upon through the men of the city council. For it is no small care of mine that he should return having accomplished everything according to his wish.
