Risālat al-Wāridāt
Abū Bakr, named among the first commanders of the community, one of the four to whom the saying about never seeing a thing without seeing God is ascribed.
— The first commanders, may God be pleased with them, Abū Bakr and ʻUmar and ʻUthmān and ʻAlī, said:
And the first of the imams, and the most excellent of men after our Prophet — God bless him and grant him peace — is our master Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, may God be pleased with him;
