Kitāb al-Safīnah al-Nūḥīyah fī al-sakīnah al-rūḥīyah
The Galenic bodily humours, invoked by the physicians as part of the exhaustive inventory of what is found in the body.
So the soundness of the humours, the organs and the spirits is followed by the soundness of the faculties and the acts, and that follows upon the soundness of the elements and the temperament.
al-Saʻādah fī falsafat al-akhlāq
Humoural physiology, from which the vaporous spirit is generated and by whose obstruction death comes.
The spirit (1), with the physicians, is a subtle vaporous body formed from the subtlety of the humours and their vaporousness, as the humours are formed from their density;

it confers on the sensible body life and life's attendants so long as the body is fit to receive the effusion, nothing having occurred to obstruct the permeation, such as thick humours — and whenever that occurs, death occurs, through the severing of the permeation.
