    1. Without Address, Concerning Hera

    You have anticipated our entreaties by your disposition toward our most reverend brother Hera, and you have proved to him better than our prayer, both by the exceeding honours you have shown him and by your patronage on each occasion. Nevertheless we too, since we cannot bear in silence what concerns him, beseech your unsurpassed honour to add, for our sake as well, to your zeal for the man, and to send him back to his country superior to the malice of his enemies; since at present he is not out of range of the darts of envy, many attempting to assail the quiet inoffensiveness of his life. Against whom we shall find one unbreakable security, if you yourself would be willing to hold your hand over the man.
