Letter 278
Late Antiquity Basil of Caesarea Greek- To Valerianus
I longed to see your nobility even while I was in Orphanene. For I expected that you, living at Korsagaina, would not hesitate to cross over to us at Attagaina, where we were holding the synod. But when I missed that meeting, I longed to see you on the mountain; for there again Euesus, being near, raised my hope of meeting you. And when I missed you on both occasions, I have come to writing, that you may think me worthy to be visited by you—at once doing what is fitting, as a younger man visiting an elder, and at the same time receiving through our meeting some counsel from us, since you have business with certain persons in Caesarea that needs our mediation toward a settlement. If, then, it is not burdensome, do not shrink from coming to us.
