Letter 308
Late Antiquity Basil of Caesarea Greek- Without address, concerning patronage
While your honour was present with the brethren, I spoke on behalf of the men from the estate of Caprales, and brought them before your gentleness, entreating you—keeping before your eyes the recompense that comes from the Lord—to be their protector, as men poor and burdened in every way. And now once more, through this letter, I renew the same request, praying to the holy God that the eminence you possess and the splendour of your life may be preserved and brought to yet greater things, so that, from greater power, you may have it in your hands to confer richer benefits upon us. For that our one prayer is for the welfare of your whole house, I believe you are persuaded.
