    1. Without address, on behalf of kinsmen

It was a thing greatly desired by me to meet with your learnedness, for many reasons: first, to enjoy the good qualities in you after so long an interval of time between; and next, to entreat you also on behalf of the people of Ariarathia. To them, long afflicted, the Lord has given a worthy consolation, in granting them the oversight of your uprightness. There is, besides, yet another matter that lies very heavily upon my kinsmen, and is almost the most critical part of the distress at Ariarathia; and this too I beg may, as far as possible, be remedied by your goodness, so that it may henceforth be made bearable for those who own the property.
