Late Antiquity Basil of Caesarea Greek- Libanius to Basil
O for those days in which we were everything to one another! Now we are bitterly parted: you have one another, but I, in place of you, have no one such as you are. As for Alcimus, I hear that in his old age he is venturing on the deeds of the young and flying off to Rome, having laid upon you the labour of keeping company with the boys. But you, gentle in all else, will bear this too without difficulty, since you did not find it difficult to write to me first.
