    I marvelled how, with you acting as mediator, so great an evil could be dared against our fellow presbyter — that the only resource he had for his livelihood should be plundered; and what is most outrageous of all, that those who dared this lay upon you the blame for what they have done. For you it was fitting not only not to permit such things to happen, but with all your might to prevent them — most of all against all men, but if not, at least against the presbyters, and of these such as are of one soul with us and walk the same road of true religion. If, then, you have any care to give us relief, see that what has been done is quickly set right. For with God's help you can set right both these things and even greater than these, in whatever matters you wish. I have also written to the ruler of our native country, so that, if they are unwilling of their own accord to do what is just, they may be compelled to do it by the action of the courts.
