    SK 69

This secret knowledge of the puruṣa (self)'s purpose was fully expounded by the supreme sage [Kapila] — [the teaching] wherein the persistence, origination, and dissolution of beings are considered.

    SK 70

This pure and foremost [knowledge] the sage [Kapila] gave out of compassion to Āsuri; Āsuri [gave it] in turn to Pañcaśikha, by whom the doctrine (saptati / Ṣaṣṭitantra (tantra)) was made manifold [widely expanded].

    SK 71

[The doctrine] handed down through the succession of disciples — this was condensed into āryā verses by the noble-minded Īśvarakṛṣṇa, having rightly understood the established conclusion (satkārya (siddhānta)). [A transmission verse, uncommented by Gauḍapāda.]

    SK 72

The topics that are in the saptati / Ṣaṣṭitantra (Seventy) are indeed the [whole] topics of the entire Ṣaṣṭitantra ["Sixty-topic system"], [but] devoid of illustrative tales and free also of [the refutation of] rival doctrines. [A transmission verse, uncommented by Gauḍapāda; Paramārtha notes it is not original.]

    SK 73

Therefore this treatise, [though] seen in brief, is not deficient in meaning — like the reflection [transferred] into a mirror of the vast-bodied [original] doctrine. [Non-canonical appendix: this verse occurs only in V1 and M, after the word "samāptam" ("completed"); excluded from the canonical seventy.]
