[Verse:] That state of equilibrium of the constituents which is prakṛti—from it, by its own nature, through agitation by Time, comes disequilibrium; of old, in the field joined to the Supreme,

[Verse:] [first] intellect [arose], and then the I-maker, threefold, was born; [then] the subtle elements, the organs, and the great elements—in [due] sequence.

[Verse:] Origination just in this sequence is proclaimed [to be] "evolution" (saṃcara).
