Ancient Ṣimānanda SanskritTats_20
[Base sūtra:] Liberation (mokṣa) is threefold.
Tats_20.c1
[Verse:] From the surge of knowledge and from cessation [of attachment] comes the destruction of merit and demerit; and from the destruction of merit and demerit comes what is sung [of] as {{kaivalya|absolute isolation}}.
Tats_20.c2
This is stated: "The first liberation is by knowledge, the second by the utter destruction of passion, and the third by the total destruction [of merit and demerit]. [Thus] the characteristic of liberation has been explained."
