The maiden's question (second set): the solitary meditator
Ancient Asaṅga SanskritŚag_14.1
[The maiden's question-verse:] Alone, withdrawn into the forest, you meditate—are you bereft of wealth, or else longing for it? Or have you done some wrong against the village? Why do you make friendship with no one? Friendship with anyone at all is not found in you.
Śag_14.2
Through not grasping at gain there is, here, peace of heart; having conquered here the army that wears the guise of the dear and pleasant, I, meditating alone, have come to know happiness—therefore I make friendship with no one; friendship with anyone at all is not found in me.
