Letter 325
Late Antiquity Basil of Caesarea Greek- To Magninianus
Even the letter of your dignity would have sufficed to work in us every gladness. But as it is, the most decorous of women, Icelium, our common daughter, by delivering your letter increased that gladness more than twofold—not only because she is a living image of your nobility, but because she displays, of herself, every care for virtue. So that, having first received her gladly for your sake, we afterwards, on her return, counted you blessed for her sake, since the rewards of such child-rearing await you from the Master, God. But may we one day see you yourself too, and enjoy the good qualities in you, with no sickness, nor any other difficulty, hindering our meeting.
